FIELD: physics, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns analytical electrochemistry and can be applied for thallium microconcentration detection in various media (drinking or natural water, treated sewage, foods etc.). Method involves a sequence of operations performed by voltammetric equipment. Citric acid of at least 2 mol/dm3 concentration with added mercury salt and mercury ion concentration over 4·10-5 mol/dm3 is used as background solution for preliminary dissolution of analysed substance. Electrochemical sedimentation of thallium recovery products is performed at negative potential of solid work electrode within -900 mV to -1000 mV range (in comparison to silver chloride reference electrode). Settled thallium recovery products are dissolved electrochemically, current voltage curve is registered. Anode current height of current voltage curve in -700 mV to -600 mV potential range for electrochemical thallium dissolution is an analytical signal of thallium.
EFFECT: possibility to detect thallium microconcentration with high precision.
