FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to measuring technology and can be used, for example for control over electric partial discharges (PD) in polymer cable insulation with implementation of roentgen radiation of electric partial discharges (RREPD). The essence of the invention is as follows: a thin grounded electrode out of aluminium foil is applied on cable insulation. High voltage alternate or pulse test voltage is supplied to the central current conducting cord of a tested cable. Further there is measured intensity of roentgen radiation of electric gas discharges passing through the electrode out of aluminium foil overlaid on polymer insulation of the tested cable.

EFFECT: high noise immunity and possibility to localise and determine place of PD in most small volumes of polymer cable insulation.
