SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for controlling and entering data, and specifically to a device which uses position of the hands on a manipulator as data received from a user. The device has sensors on the surface of a control device for using position and capturing the limb of the user on the manipulator as data input. The method involves steps for determining the limb of the user on the device and actions performed in response to given position of the limb of the user. The device is controlled depending on the type of limb, its position and capturing of the control manipulator.

EFFECT: possibility of controlling a device using its surface which is not designed for direct input of user information.
