FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for preparing dense and high-density refractories. The method of preparing finely dispersed zircon powder involves dry grinding zircon in a bead mill with corundum lining and corundum grinding medium. After obtaining particles with size of 2-3 mcm, a surface active substance is added in form of a mixture of ammonia and hexamethylenetetramine in amount of not less than 0.5 wt % with volume ratio of components in the mixture of 1:20 and grinding is continued until obtaining particles with size less than 1 mcm.
EFFECT: obtaining finely dispersed zircon powder with size less than 1 mcm with output of up to 72,5%, cutting on grinding time to 47 hours and prevention of iron milling.
