FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a display device with a scanning function. The device comprises a display which does not only display visual information, but can identify proximity of one or more objects presented for this purpose. Such proximity is not limited to actual touching and/or pressing on the display as in traditional touch screens (touch-sensitive). The invention also relates to methods of functioning of such a scanning display device and to software for application in one or more computer devices connected to the display for identifying one or more objects near the display, and displaying visual information by the display, respectively.
EFFECT: improved scanning display device which is more convenient for use in data input purposes and which is interactive when presenting information to users.
