FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: novel grey glass composition which absorbs ultraviolet light is disclosed, where the grey glass contains a main glass composition containing SiO2 65-75 wt %, Na2O 10-20 wt %, CaO 5-15 wt %, MgO 0-5 wt %, Al2O3 0-5 wt %, K2O 0-5 wt %, B2O3 0-5% and MnO2 0-0.5%, and a part which contains dyes and materials which modify glass properties, containing total iron of not more than 0.65 wt %, Se 2-10 PPM, at least one UV absorber selected from CeO2, V2O5, TiO2 or MoO3, CoO not more than 20 PPM, Cr2O3 not more than 75 PPM, where the redox-ratio of the glass composition is 0.2-0.6.
EFFECT: obtaining neutral grey glass with fundamental wavelength of 480-580 nm and excitation purity of not more than 8%.
