FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention provides a glass sheet having a soda-lime-silicate glass composition with a high visible light transmittance (LtC) of at least 89 %; with a dominant wavelength (DW) of about 490–505 nm and a purity (Pe) of not more than 1 % for a reference thickness of 5.66 mm and methods for its manufacture. Glass composition includes raw material with low iron content, total content of iron oxide (Fe2O3) 0.02–0.06 wt.%, ferrous iron (FeO) 0.006–0.02 wt.%, redox ratio (FeO/Fe2O3) about 0.30–0.55; Cr2O3 about 0.3–10 ppm, TiO2 about 50–500 ppm; SnO2 about 10–500 ppm and critical amount of SO3 about 0.10–0.25 wt.%. Low content of iron oxide is achieved due to partial replacement of common raw material (sand, calcite, limestone) with raw material with low iron content, complete replacement of common dolomite with low-iron dolomite with maximum content of 0.02 wt.% of Fe2O3.
