FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: carbonaceous refractory material used in making cast iron or steel and having high thermal stability, high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance without reducing oxidation resistance is proposed. In the carbonaceous refractory material which consists of refractory filler and carbonaceous binder, which binds particles of the refractory filler, the binder contains dispersed nanoparticles of catalyst metal with diametre of not more than 1000 nm and carbon fibre structures with diametre of not more than 50 nm. The catalyst metal is selected from a group comprising Ni, Co, Fe, Ti, Zr, Cr, Mn, Cu, Pt, Rh, Pd and compounds thereof. The refractory material is obtained by mixing organic binder consisting of phenol resin, tar, pitch or mixture thereof, particles of base material and solution of catalyst metal in liquid, colloidal or suspended state with subsequent moulding and heat treatment.
EFFECT: during heat treatment of carbonaceous refractory material, carbon fibre structures with diametre of not more than 50 nm form in the carbonaceous binder, thereby increasing strength, reducing modulus of elasticity and reducing coefficient of thermal expansion of the carbonaceous refractory material.
