FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of 1-adamantyl methyl ketone which is an intermediate product during synthesis of medicinal agent Remantodin. The method involves reacting 1-adamantane carboxylic acid with acetic acid with ratio of reagents equal to 1:10 in gas phase in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst and subsequent extraction of the desired product. The metal oxide used is calcium oxide. The reaction is carried out at temperature 470-480°C and with specific consumption of the reaction mixture of 0.23-0.25 g/min cm2.
EFFECT: invention increases output of the desired product while using readily available catalyst.
