FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of monitoring strength of objects made from solid materials involves subjecting the monitored object to mechanical effect with standard impulse excitation force and determining amplitude of the electromagnetic signal. Using Fourier transform, the amplitude-frequency characteristic of the electromagnetic signal is determined, from which frequency of the fundamental maximum is determined. Using predetermined calibration curves, water-content coefficient of the surrounding medium, temperature coefficient and moisture-content coefficient of the object are determined, from which a generalised parametre is determined. The value determined that way is compared with a predetermined empirical relationship linking the generalised parametre to mechanical strength, and strength of the object is determined from the comparison results.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of the method of determining strength of objects with different moisture.
