FIELD: study of strength properties of solid materials by application of impact load. SUBSTANCE: according to procedure of nondestructive test of strength of articles tested article is subjected to mechanical action by means of electromechanical impact device with fixed force of shock excitation, amplitude of electromagnetic signal characterizing internal inhomogeneity of article is measured, amplitude-frequency characteristic of electromagnetic signal is computed with the aid of Fourier transform and frequency of basic maximum is determined from it. Duration of leading front of signal characterizing surface hardness of article is also measured. On basis of obtained data generalized parameter P is found and compared with empirical dependence established in advance that couples P with mechanical strength. Comparison results are used to determine strength of article.
