FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: controlled article is subjected to mechanical effects by electromechanical impact device with normalised force of impact excitation. Fourier transform is used to calculate amplitude-frequency response of electromagnetic signal to determine generalised parameter P and compare magnitude of the latter with preselected empirical relationship relating said parameter P with result of comparison to determine hardness of article. At least, five impacts are applied to earthed metal substrate applied via acoustic lubricant on article surface. Fourier transform is used to calculate amplitude-frequency response of every electromagnetic signal to be averaged to determine generalised parameter.

EFFECT: higher accuracy.
