FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in fabricating series of samples, in ignition of samples varying time of ignition within ranges (0.1÷0.9)-τgen, where τgen is general time of sample burning, in registering time of ignition and duration of independent flame burning of each sample, in imposing results of experiment on plane system of coordinates, in determining range of limit of ignition of combustible material samples, in rejecting dubious results of fire experiments and in determining optimal time (limit) of inflammation of combustible material.

EFFECT: determining true value of duration of independent flame burning of material after optimal time of firing samples of combustible material; upgraded accuracy of measurement of parametres of material combustibility and reduction of fuel consumption for source of firing at fire tests of combustible material.
