METHOD FOR GENERATION OF ELECTRIC ENERGY BASED ON SEMICONDUCTING ELECTRONIC CATALYTIC ELEMENT Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC H01M8/10 H01M14/00

Abstract RU 2380792 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: according to invention, in method for generation of electric energy based on semiconducting catalytic elements (SCE), rectifying and ohm electric contacts are arranged with semiconducting catalyst, thickness of which does not exceed length of diffusion of nonoperating charge carriers in its material, rectifying contact used is semiconducting heterojunction between catalyst material and semiconductor with larger width of prohibited zone, homogeneous gas mixture containing oxidizing and reducing reagents is supplied to catalyst surface, and potential difference is eliminated by means of electric circuit. Material of semiconducting catalyst is selected based on condition that value of its prohibited zone width does not exceed value of combustion product molecule excitation energy acquired by them as a result of chemical reaction. Ohm contact is placed mostly between catalyst and wide-zone semiconductor and is electrically isolated from the latter. Electric insulation of ohm contact with catalyst from wide-zone semiconductor is realised by making this contact from material, which produces rectifying contact with wide-zone semiconductor, included into electric circuit opposite rectifying heterojunction "catalyst - wide-zone semiconductor".

EFFECT: improved energetic and economical efficiency of method, improved efficiency factor of chemical energy transformation into electric one, expansion of fuel mixtures and structural materials assortment.
