SUBSTANCE: controller controls an air pollution control system which controls pollutant emissions. The process has several technological parametres (MPP), where one or more of MPP are controlled technological parametres (CTPP), and one of MPP is volume of pollutant (AOP) released by the system. A user input device identifies the optimisation target function. A control processor determines a setting for at least one or more CTPP based on current values of MPP and the identified optimisation target function and controls at least one CTPP based on the determined setting for that CTPP.
EFFECT: provision for a range of process parametres for which optimisation is possible.
