FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and can be used to make membranes. A method is proposed, in which a layer of wet metal oxide gel is formed on the surface of a coarse-pored substrate, where the metal oxide is selected from oxides of titanium, zirconium, aluminium and silicon. The layer is dried and the gel is converted to the corresponding sol which is subsequently dried to form a porous structure, after which a cladding oxide layer is deposited on the formed porous structure by treating the structure with concentrated solution of salts selected from aluminium nitrate, zirconium hydroxonitrate, nickel nitrate or their mixture, in the presence of a buffer additive of a nitrate of an alkali metal with decomposition temperature higher than decomposition temperature of the salt selected for formation of the cladding oxide. Further, thermal treatment is carried out at 350-600°C, after which the obtained material is washed and dried.
EFFECT: method provides a flawless porous structure of a selective layer of membrane material.
