FIELD: physics; geophysics.

SUBSTANCE: proposed group of inventions relates to geophysical methods of analysing rocks, particularly to a method and a device for determining properties a rock mass. The method of determining properties of a rock mass involves the following steps: using a logging device, several several data subsets which characterise properties of the rock mass are obtained from a group of receivers, where each data subset has a corresponding resolving power; the first data subset coming from the group of receivers is processed in order to obtain a first model of the rock mass; based on the first model and by processing at least one of the data subsets besides the first data subset, a least one model which includes a two-dimensional layer-by-layer model of the rock mass, a three-dimensional layer-by-layer model of the rock mass and a two-dimensional image of the well shaft are obtained. The device for determining properties of a rock mass includes a logging device, a processor and a machine-readable medium containing instructions which enable the processor to carryout the necessary data processing in order to obtain the final model of the rock mass and a two-dimensional image of the well shaft.

EFFECT: increased accuracy and reliability of obtained information on rock formations when processing logging data.
