FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel cells and is used foe assembling membrane-electrode units of fuel cells based on doped polymer membranes, for example polybenzimidazole membranes whose proton conductivity is provided by a doping agent, for example phosphoric acid. The invention enables use during assembly of membrane-electrode units of membranes in undoped or partially doped state, when they are subject to storage without strict limitation of moisture of the medium and characterised by high mechanical characteristics compared to completely doped membranes. During such a procedure, the process of ultimate doping or doping membranes to a required level which provides acceptable values of proton conductivity is completed after assembling the membrane-electrode unit. The source of the doping agent which moves into the membrane as part of the membrane-electrode unit - either when switching the fuel cell to operation mode or during hot moulding - is a doping paste placed between the membrane and electrodes during assembling. The doping paste contains a doping agent and a stabiliser paste in form of dispersed particles which can be of different nature.
EFFECT: simplification of the technique of assembling a membrane-electrode unit.
