FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of geodesic instrument making, namely to instruments, which are used to measure distances along sighting line for alignment of reflectors, sighting marks and targets. Method for alignment of metering instrument includes preliminary alignment of instrument in point of area, where linear and angular elements of alignment error are measured versus selected initial side of measured angle or line of area. On completion of measurements, values are reduced with account of data on elements of alignment error, and then, taking errors into account, vertical axis of instrument rotation is finally set into upright position. Method is realised with device that represents optical aligner equipped with micrometre, optical element of which is a grid with count index. Aligner comprises electronic system of data registration and processing, which includes code sensor, units of heights input, units for calculation of distances, scale image factor, directional angles, corrections of measured directions and unit of linear error element correction.
EFFECT: reduced time inputs for proper installation of instrument into working position and improved accuracy of measurements.
