FIELD: physics, image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for generating images using a combination of positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The imaging system contains the following: a magnetic resonance imaging scanner which includes at least a main magnet and gradient magnetic field coils placed inside or on the housing of the scanner which receives space coded magnetic resonance in the imaging region; several solid-state radiation detectors placed inside or on the housing of the scanner and assembled so that they detect gamma-rays from the imaging region; apparatus for processing positron emission tomography capable of determining flight time (PET FT) configured to determine localised response lines based on location of simultaneously arising gamma-rays detected by the solid-state radiation detectors, and the time interval between detection of gamma-rays; processing apparatus used for reconstructing positive emission tomography capable of determining time of flight configured to reconstruct localised response lines and produce an image of the positive emission tomography capable of determining time of flight; as well as processing apparatus used for reconstructing magnetic resonance imaging configured to reconstruct the obtained magnetic resonance and produce a magnetic resonance image.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining high quality images.
