FIELD: physics, signalling.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to traffic lights designed for controlling crossing time of vehicles and pedestrians. The traffic light has a light aperture in form of sections of three colours: red, amber and green. The outline of the red light signal is square shaped, the outline of the green light signal is circular and the outline of the amber light signal which lies between the red and green light signals is hexagonal and is made by superimposing two congruent triangles. The vertex of one of the triangles is directed towards the red light signal and the vertex of the other is directed towards the green light signal.
EFFECT: design increases self-descriptiveness of the traffic light and improves unambiguity of its light signals due to integration of colour and shape of the outline of light signals with identical information interpretation and due to additional indication (information) of imminent switching on of the outermost (red/green) positions of the traffic light.
