FIELD: physics, semiconductors.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a superconducting cable in which there is high efficiency of cooling the superconducting conductor and sufficient insulation efficiency, as well as to a method of controlling temperature of coolants used in the cable. The superconducting cable consists of a heat-insulating pipe which contains the cable core which has a superconducting conductor made from superconducting material. The cable core also has a low thermal conductivity pipe placed on the outer surface of the superconducting conductor. The inner and outer parts of this pipe are separately filled with different types of coolants serving different purposes. The low conductivity pipe is filled with coolant used in the conductor to cool the superconducting conductor in order to maintain its superconducting state. The heat-insulating pipe is filled with coolant used for insulating i.e. for electrical insulation of the superconducting conductor.
EFFECT: invention enables cooling and insulating while increasing transmission power in cables with a solid core and also enables control of coolant temperature.
