FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to pipe-rolling production. Straight after exit from broaching oblique-roll mill, thermal radiation emitted from outer surface of hollow billet is registered with resolution at site, and when compared to control values, it is used to assess condition of technological process. At the same time thermal radiation from at least one specific section of outer surface of pipe hollow billet is determined fully as thermographic with resolution by time. Produced thermal diagram is compared to control diagram of the hollow pipe billet already produced with the same grade of quality and the same rated dimension, and accordingly of the same measurement point. Possible variation of thermal diagram that specifically occurs at a certain point of measurement on hollow pipe billet detected in process of comparison with thermal diagram of the same measurement point in reference hollow pipe billet is used to assess condition of technological process.

EFFECT: simplified control.
