SUBSTANCE: system includes a server computer which can support a controlled storage of data connection definitions. There is also a client computer which has an application program which can use data from a data source. When a request for connection with a data source is received through an application, a list of accessible sources is extracted from the server computer. If one of the data sources in the list is selected, a data connection file is extracted and used for connection with the data source. If an account is opened by the application, which has a link to the data source, the storage is used in order to confirm connection with the data source.
EFFECT: faster operation of the system and simplification of the method of detecting data sources.
