FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly to positive displacement ICE, namely to devices that allow varying engine compression ratio. In compliance with proposed invention, ICE comprises screw transmission incorporating rolling elements, one of which being coupled with adjusting piston that varies engine working chamber. Note here that screw transmission comprises screw with spiral rolling path and rolling elements fitted in aforesaid paths, and nut to move along said paths. Note also that one of transmission parts, i.e. screw or nut is made up of two aligned parts coupled by their face curvilinear surfaces with clearance between them along trajectory of spiral rolling path. Rolling elements are arranged in aforesaid clearance between face surfaces of two aligned parts, while aligned parts are jointed together and locked.
EFFECT: reduced weight and overall dimensions, higher reliability.
