FIELD: measurement technique.

SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic flaw detection method for products made of homogeneous ferromagnetic material and having simple symmetrical shape, and long-size products with constant cross-section of profile throughout their length. According to the invention this method consists in the following: external magnetic field is applied to magnetise product along one of its axis of symmetry or along axis of symmetry of long-size product profile cross-section in order to create two express magnate poles. Product defect is determined by deviation of magnetic field intensity zero line from trace of plane on sample normal to sample axis of symmetry in each cross-section and containing longitudinal product axis passing through centres of gravity of its cross-sections. Evaluation of defect significance degree is performed by comparison of recorded deviation with rated value for given product or with reference sample characteristic.

EFFECT: invention makes possible to perform rapid flaw detection using mobile technical facilities and automation equipment.
