FIELD: physics, optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser engineering and can be used for protecting underwater objects from active laser search systems. According to the method for functional jamming laser systems for searching for submerged underwater objects, the target surface laser tracking system is auto-tracked and exposed to powerful laser radiation at wavelength closer to the wavelength of the system being jammed. In order to increase operational security of the underwater object, flares of the underwater laser field created by the surface laser source of the system being jammed during accidental focusing of radiation of this source by the wavy surface of the sea are also detected. The direction to the brightest of the detected flares is determined and powerful laser radiation is emitted in that direction.
EFFECT: increased operational security of the underwater objects.
