FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to particle detectors and can be used to detect neutral and charged particles in researches in high-energy and nuclear physics. The calorimetre module consists of alternating layers of an absorber and scintillator, with collection of scintillation light using spectrum-shifting fibres passing through openings in the layers of the absorber and scintillator. Openings in the absorber and scintillator plates through which reradiating fibres pass are arranged in a spiral.
EFFECT: for any angle of incidence relative the axis of the module on their path, the detected particles meet the absorber plates and a cascade develops, which provides 100% efficiency of detecting particles even for zero angle between the direction of incidence of the particles and the axis of the module and discontinuity of response in that case does not exceed ±1%.
