FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a propene epoxidation method which involves reaction of propene with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of methanol as a solvent and titanium zeolite catalyst. The proposed method involves separation of propylene oxide from the reaction mixture to obtain a mixture (Ma), containing methanol, water, at least one carboxylic acid and at least one carbonyl compound. At least one carboxylic acid contained in Ma is at least partially neutrailised by adding a base to mixture Ma to form a mixture Mb. Methanol is separated through distillation from mixture Mb and repeatedly partially used at the propene and hydrogen peroxide reaction step. The said method optionally involves a hydrogenation step before the neutralisation step.
EFFECT: design of a propene epoxidation method which enables processing an epoxidation reaction mixture with extraction of recycled methanol, which has low content of carbonyl compounds.
