FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of purifying crude propene-oxide, which contains methanol and acetaldehyde, by carrying out continuous extractive distillations with the use of an extraction solvent, which reduces the volatility of methanol, and supply of the connection, which contains the unsubstituted group NH2 capable of interacting with acetaldehyde, into the distillation column at a level higher than the point of entry of the crude propene-oxide, obtaining purified propene-oxide, which contains less than 100 parts/million of methanol and less than 100parts/million acetaldehyde. Also described is the method of catalytic epoxidation of propene, which includes this stage of purification.
EFFECT: obtaining of purified propene-oxide, which contains the aforesaid quantity of impurities of methanol and acetaldehyde.
