FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: brake or retarder of elevator cab moving along vertical guide rails (2) comprises braking element representing roller (9). Roller axis runs along guide rail (2) and its working surface represents surface of friction. Roller (9) has flanges arranged to displace in gap (20) of case (19) arranged parallel with appropriate guide rail (2). Note here that said gap (20) has groove (21) with its at least one end furnished with reduced distance to guide rail (2). Roller (9) is coupled with retarder that sets non-activated state of rest and is loaded by spring (28) towards guide rail (2). When said retarder releases roller (9) the latter thrusts against guide rail (2) to move there along. Said retarder is furnished with solenoid arranged thereon to turn thereabout. Spring (28) represents a compression spring, while roller (9) is pressed towards guide rail (2). Note here that spring (28) is counteracted by solenoid controlled by elevator cab speed controller.
EFFECT: simple design, higher reliability.
