FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: when leakage testing articles, an article is connected to the air chamber of a bubbling flask whose volume is selected such that bubbles are released when there is a leakage from the article of known volume with given error. A receiver, the article and the bubbling flask are filled with gas under control pressure. Gas bubbles released from the pipe of the bubbling flask are noted, from which leakage of the article is determined. According to the invention, before connecting the article to the air chamber of the bubbling vessel, fluctuating sign-variable pressure with amplitude of 250-500 Pa and frequency of 0.1-0.2 Hz is applied to the article for 60 s.
EFFECT: increased reliability of leakage testing articles due to removal of mechanical contaminants from micro-cracks and increased total amount of gas leakage through micro-cracks in the article.
