FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: distribution of characteristics of a gas-liquid stream is measured in the vertical section of a pipe. Flow parametres are analysed simultaneously on the entire vertical section of the pipe by measuring dielectric characteristics of the liquid and gas mixture using several horizontal electrode plates connected to a measuring plate which measures permittivity which is proportional to volume of gas in the gas-liquid stream in six horizontal layers of the gas-liquid stream and transmits the measurement value in digital form to a secondary device. The invention also proposes a device for implementing the method.

EFFECT: possibility of determining flow conditions of a gas-liquid stream efficiently, as well as testing and checking apparatus for measuring quantitative and qualitative parametres of liquid flowing in a pipe with minimal expenses.
