FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in making solar cells. The photocell consists of several spherical particles, the inner part of which has one conduction type while the outer part has the opposite conduction type. The photocell has current-collection contacts and an insulator between the contacts. The insulating layer is selected from optically transparent dielectric containing metal particles with size of the order or less than the wavelength at the maximum of the spectrum of incident electromagnetic radiation.
EFFECT: reduced thickness of the photosensitive layer due to higher absorption on the entire electromagnetic radiation spectrum and concentration of electromagnetic radiation in the region of the photosensitive layer through the surface plasmon resonance effect, reduced cost of making the photocell due to lower raw material consumption and less operations when making the photocell.
