SUBSTANCE: proposed system and method relate to distribution of information on faults in an operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) Ethernet which has several levels of OAM domains. For this purpose accident signal indication and suppression (AIS) frames are generated by maintenance intermediate points (MIP) when a fault is detected in the first OAM domain. The frames are sent to one or more maintenance end points (MEP) of the first OAM domain. During reception of AIS frames, MEPs operate so as to generate one more AIS frame for distribution to the neighbouring second OAM domain of a higher level. In response to AIS frames from the first OAM domain of a lower level, all signals initiated in the second OAM domain as a result the fault in the first OAM domain are suppressed.
EFFECT: efficient distribution of information on such faults.
