FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to obtaining active coal from lignin-containing raw material. The method of obtaining active coal involves mixing lignin-containing material ground up to particle size of 0.25-1.00 mm with solid sodium or potassium hydroxide in mass ratio 1:1-1:3 respectively, subsequent carbonisation in an inert atmosphere while raising temperature at a rate of 1-20°C/min to 800°C, maintaining that temperature for 1 hour, washing the end product with water, acid solution and then repeatedly with water until attaining a neutral medium and drying.
EFFECT: obtaining active coal with high porosity index and sorption activity.
