FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy, particularly to chemical and thermal processing, and can be widely applied in mechanical engineering. The method involves heating and saturation at chrome boron coating temperature in powder mix containing the following components, wt %: boron carbide 0.5-25.0, chrome bromide 0.5-15.0, nickel chloride 0.1-2.0, sodium tetrafluoroborate 0.1-1.0, ammonium bromide 0.1-2.0, corundum 55-98.7, with heating and item saturation performed in hydrogen medium, and heating performed in two maturing stages: at 300-500°C for 3-10 minutes and at 600-900°C for 5-30 minutes, with gaseous products evacuated before cooling down.
EFFECT: improved quality of processed steel item surface, intensified process of chrome boron coating.
