FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to a method of producing quinoline by reacting aniline with an aqueous solution of glycerol in the presence of a zeolite catalyst, characterized in that zeolite catalyst used is granular zeolite H-ZSM-5mmm of high degree of crystallinity with a hierarchical porous structure, reaction is carried out in a flow reactor with a fixed catalyst bed at 400 °C, atmospheric pressure, bulk feed rate 0.1–1.0 h-1, molar ratio aniline: glycerol equal to 1:1–3, using 10–30 % glycerol solution.

EFFECT: technical result is a method of producing quinoline, widely used in the manufacture of medicines, fungicides and herbicides, metal corrosion inhibitors, extractants and sorbents, dyes and high-boiling solvents, which enables to simplify the synthesis of quinoline, reduce the energy and material consumption of the heterocyclisation process.
