FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metal processing by pressure and can be applied in petroleum and power engineering for manufacturing of reactor and steam generator shells. Method involves ingot casting and hot thermal processing of the ingot. The ingot is forged to form a disc. Further the disc is rolled to form a plate with width of shell piece height or over and with length of shell piece perimetre or over. The plate is bent to form a shell, its ends welded at butts. Heated weld joint is forged at deformation grade of 50% or over.
EFFECT: expanded range of shells produced, reduced labour intensiveness.
