FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method is as follows: one measures signal power at the output of a directional receiving antenna at different direction of its orientation diagram (OD) axis in the coverage sector with the latter split into direction discrimination elements whose angular width is considerably less than that of the receiving antenna OD. All the discrimination elements are numbered within the coverage sector and one registers the direction of each discrimination element within the coverage sector. A priori one selects a number of measurements and the direction of the receiving antenna OD axis for performance of the measurements. For each direction of the OD axis, pre-selected, one defines the receiving antenna amplification factor in terms of power in the directions of all the discrimination elements within the coverage sector and unites them all into a matrix; one measures signal power at the receiving antenna output at the pre-selected directions of its OD axis and the measured power values are united into a vector. One estimates distribution of radiation sources power as per discrimination elements within the coverage sector in the form of the vector or, in case of necessity to account for measurement error, estimate of distribution of sources power as per discrimination elements within the coverage sector is obtained by way of an estimate method. By the distribution obtained during estimate one defines the direction to the radiation sources.
