FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric engineering and relates to diagnostics of condition of support substation, pin linear and suspended insulators for high-voltage substations and power transmission lines. Proposed indicator is made of electrotechnical glass. In case electric insulating properties of insulation body of polymer insulator deteriorate, value of electric field intensity drop on indicator will increase. As value of voltage drop on indicator becomes more than internal electric strength, indicator is damaged, producing an alarm on insulator failure.

EFFECT: provides for reliable diagnostics of insulation condition at early stages of its dielectric properties deterioration.
