FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, in particular, to devices used on overhead power transmission lines (OPTL). Summary: insulator breakdown indicator has attachment element on insulator or on element of electric plant and contains signal element and element destructed under action of electric current. Signal element or its part is connected to the fastening element through the destructible element and can change the spatial position as a result of destructed element destruction. Indicator has the possibility of passing through the destructed element of the current flowing through the pierced insulator.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide indication of insulator breakdown, including polymer, which is well distinguishable at long distances.
