FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: electric insulating structure of an insulator is made with a hydrophobic coating of different thickness, liquid or paste-like in the initial condition. The side external surfaces of the metallic reinforcement, and also the outer surface of the insulating part are coated with a hydrophobic coating with different thickness. The thickness of the hydrophobic coating of the external side surface of the metallic reinforcement of the insulator, directly in contact with the source of high voltage, and also the insulating part of the insulator in the section located from the base of the metallic reinforcement, directly in contact with the source of high voltage, along the outer surface of the insulating part and to the top of the nearest rib, but not further than by 1/3 of the construction height of the electric insulating structure, makes 200-800 mcm. On the remaining surface of the electric insulating structure the thickness of the hydrophobic coating makes 80-400 mcm.
EFFECT: provision of high values of discharge voltages during operation of an electric insulating structure under conditions of dirt of various extent and moisture.
