FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical and petrochemical industry. Initial hydrocarbon material is converted to soot in a stepped reactor in the presence of gaseous fuel combustion products. The obtained stream of products contains soot, hydrogen gas, CO and one or more impurities. The said stream of products is purified from impurities. At least a portion of CO is converted to CO2 and the obtained soot is extracted. The purified gaseous stream is taken to another processing unit for use as fuel or chemical material.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain hydrogen gas in amount of 90-99,99% of the volume of the obtained stream of products along with economically useful amounts of soot, which satisfies ASTM conditions for soot on structure and specific surface area.
