FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: one of the method versions includes the following steps: supplying the initial fuel to the reformer furnace. The initial fuel contains wastes in the form of sewage and/or solid waste, containing carbon; the supply of methane to the furnace as additional initial fuel; water supply to the furnace; providing one or more plasma-arc heat sources in a reformer for splitting said initial fuels and said water into one or more constituent components and/or a combination thereof; converting at least a portion of said one or more constituent water components and initial fuels and/or a combination thereof to said secondary fuel using one or more catalysts; the removal of said secondary fuel from the reformer. In another version of the method, the initial fuel is methane, and the secondary fuel is methanol.

EFFECT: methods enable to avoid using large furnace converters using methane to power plasma arc burners.
