FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention includes a semiconductor laser with a photodetector, optically connected through a collimator with a diffusely reflecting object, a laser current modulator, a laser thermostabilisation unit and an electronic unit for processing interference signals. The electronic unit for processing the interference signal of the photodiode has an operational device, a comparator, clock pulse and strobe pulse formers, a unit for generating three pulsed signals, devices for measuring duration of the initial phase and period of the interference signal, as well as computer which controls the entire operation of the measuring device.

EFFECT: reduced measurement errors.
