FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: samples of steel under test are kept for not less than 48 hours in a bacterial medium and the biofilm formed on their surface is removed and a bacterial suspension is prepared from each. A solution of 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride is added to the obtained suspensions which are kept for not less than 24 hours, after which dehydrogenase activity of the bacteria is determined in form of mass concentration of the 1,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium formazan formed and resistance of the steel under test to microbiological corrosion is determined from this parametre.
EFFECT: method enables ranking of a wide range of steel on resistance to microbiological corrosion in a short period of time.
