FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bioelectrochemistry and can be used to estimate the dehydrogenase activity of protein extracts produced from microorganisms. The method is executed by measuring the current responses in an "extract + mediator + substrate" bioelectrochemical system, occurring due to the fact that three electrodes are placed in a glass electrochemical cell, namely, a working electrode made of a glassy carbon material; a saturated silver chloride reference electrode, an auxiliary electrode made of platinum foil, then a working solution containing a potassium-phosphate buffer solution as a background electrolyte, glucose as a substrate, potassium ferricyanide as a mediator, is poured into the glass cell, a protein extract is added, then the electrodes are connected to a potentiostat and a voltage of 534 mV is applied, the resulting system is stirred for 30 minutes until stable current responses are achieved.
EFFECT: invention allows obtaining a simple technological implementation and a sufficiently quick assessment of the quality of the bioelectrocatalyst, and the obtained results are correlated with the data evaluated by the photocolorimetric method.
