FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiology and functional diagnostic techniques. It involves continuous registration of arterial pressure and electrocardiogram. The first differences of successive systolic arterial pressures and R-R intervals are determined. The paired values of the first differences of systolic arterial pressure and following R-R intervals are specified with observing the following conditions: the first differences of systolic arterial pressure and the following R-R intervals have an identical sign, and the first differences of systolic arterial pressure are within 1 mm Hg to 20 mm Hg, and the first differences of pulse intervals are within 4 msec to 25 msec. An arterial baroreflex sensitivity index is defined as a regression constant of the first differences of R-R intervals for the first differences of systolic arterial pressure.

EFFECT: method allows more accurate estimation of arterial baroreflex on short recording areas and its dynamics throughout the functional tests.
