FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves converting iron (III) into a complex compound with glycylthymol blue in a weakly acidic medium. The iron (III) solution at pH 4.8-6.5 is mixed with glycylthymol blue in amount which is 150-250 times more than the amount of the iron (III) solution, 0.1-0.4 ml of a solution of a surfactant obtained by adding up to 100 ml of water to 0.2 g of monoalkylphenyl ether of polyethyleneglyclol based on a distillate polymer, and up to 10 ml of water with subsequent heating in a water bath at 80-98°C for 3-6 minutes.

EFFECT: increased sensitivity and reproducibility of analysis.
